Donald trump jokes about Kamala Harris job

In a campaign moment that’s as humorous as it is unexpected, Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, swapped his suit for a McDonald’s apron and got behind the fryer in Feasterville-Trevose, Pennsylvania. Trump’s visit to the fast-food chain on Sunday came with a jab at his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris, as he humorously declared he’d worked "15 minutes more" than her during his brief stint at the fryer.

Trump's stop at the McDonald’s, located in a key swing region just north of Philadelphia, wasn’t just about flipping fries—it was also a lighthearted swipe at Harris’s claims of a middle-class background, which include her past experience working at McDonald’s during college in the 1980s.

Wearing a black and yellow apron, Trump tossed his suit jacket aside and followed the instructions of an employee, carefully dunking fries into the fryer, salting them, and scooping them into signature red McDonald’s boxes. "This is something I’ve wanted to do all my life," he joked, taking a playful dig at Harris’s recounting of her time at the chain.

Trump didn’t miss the chance to claim otherwise. "She talked about making french fries like it was the toughest job in the world. She’s never worked at McDonald’s," he remarked to a crowd of reporters. He added, with his trademark flair, "I’ve now worked for 15 minutes more than Kamala."

When asked if he had a birthday message for Harris—who turned 60 that same day—Trump, ever the showman, responded, “I’d say, ‘Happy Birthday, Kamala,’ and maybe I’ll even get her some flowers."

A large crowd gathered outside the McDonald’s to witness the spectacle, with many supporters cheering for Trump. He took the opportunity to greet customers, even stepping up to the drive-thru window to serve an order. "Look at the crowd over here," he said. "They’re so happy because they have hope. They need hope."

This isn’t the first time Trump has referenced Harris’s past work experience. During a campaign stop in Indiana, Pennsylvania, last month, he teased that he’d like to try working as a fry cook to see what it was like. Sunday's event was his follow-through on that playful promise, further highlighting the back-and-forth between the two candidates.

Both Trump and Harris have been heavily campaigning in Pennsylvania in the lead-up to the November 5 election, knowing the state’s critical importance in securing a win. With each candidate making their rounds, their messages range from playful jabs to serious policies, but it’s moments like this McDonald’s fry-cook cameo that capture public attention.

As Trump served up fries and humor, it’s clear he’s leaning into the theatrics of the campaign trail—one fry basket at a time.
